VCL's November Showcase at the Railway Club

Hi all,

For those who couldn't make it, we're happy to say that we had a fantastic November showcase at the Railway Club again!
While last month was a line-up of great folk/pop artists, this month we had a taste upbeat rock and jazz with Vancouver based singer/songwriters David Blair, Jarod Tyler and the hit South African band Hutsey.

We highly recommend you check out these fantastic artists. David Blair has just released "Things Left Unsaid" his debut, in which many have made comparisons to Jason Mraz and John Mayer. You can see the music video for one of his single "Hurt So Hard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ppTgZevYVo

Hutsey, which can be compared to Coldplay with their melodic-rock power ballads, have a sound that is very much their own. Go to www.hutsey.com to hear more of their music.
Lastly, Jarod Tyler, who's performed with Vancouver City Limits before, gave a fantastic set that had an element of Elton John-like sound in his lyrical and musical intonations. You can check out his music and upcoming live shows at http://www.myspace.com/jarrodtylerpage

See you this month at the Vancouver City Limits December showcase!

Vancouver City Limits Opens at the Railway Club!

Vancouver City Limits is proud to announce that we've moved to the Railway Club, one of the hottest indie music venues in Vancouver! We had an amazing first show featuring acoustic singer/songwriter James Lamb and Emily Brown as well as the reggae-influenced Vancouver band, Warless. It was a huge success and we look forward to many more to come.
We'll be at the Railway Club every last Wednesday of the month featuring three local and/or international artists.

We've posted some beautiful black and white live shots from the show taken by VCL photographer Lindsey Bond. You can check out more live photos from our previous shows at The Sin Bin and The Beaumont Theatre at

Twins to the Limit!

Here at Vancouver City Limits we have many multi-talented individuals preforming on stage and behind the scenes. The crew of VCL are accomplished artists in media, video, music and fine art disciplines... and to top it off there are multiples of us! By multiples I mean twins! Both George Faulkner (monsieur videographer) et Lindsey Bond (madame photographer) have identical twins! (Mr. Gord Faulkner and Miss. Ashleigh Bond). Now, there must be something in the water at VCL because we also have had some pretty amazing twin acts who have performed on the last few monday nights,  for example: the rockin Fera sisters &  the lovely Carli and Julie Kennedy (seen here with George and Gord). With all of these twins ending up in the same room, it makes you wonder if twins really do have telepathic capabilities!  Wink!

VCL's New Mascot or should I say... Mouscot!

Once upon a rainy monday night (not so uncommon to Vancouver) VCL found an improvised addition to the second performance. A small body decided to enter the theatre through the back door to join in with our fantastic second act, Reid Jamieson!  Our wee mouse friend snuck in and out of the spotlight,  startling the photographer, and settling down for a few minutes beside Mr Jamieson's left shoe. The friendly little creature was taken outside, but proceeded to return from the rain and stationed himself beside Mr Jamieson's microphone pole.  After that we smiled and conceded that the mouse was here to stay... at least till the end of the performance!

Vancouver’s hottest musical showcase

Update May 2010:  VCL Showcases are now held at the Vancouver Rowing Club on Fridays and at the Railway Club on the last Wed of the month

Archived Blog Article:

Six bucks is all it costs for entry into one of Vancouver’s best kept musical secrets. Vancouver City Limits has its finger on the pulse of the city’s burgeoning music scene and it has rapidly become one of the most intimate performing venues in town. Musical styles run the gamut but the constants are diverse talent and distinct originality.

Every Monday night from 7:30 to 10:30PM, Vancouver City Limits presents a musical showcase in the Beaumont Stage, a cozy 65-seat theatre & performance space offering performers an opportunity to present their music in a concert like setting featuring. Each week features three new performers from the city’s best emerging singer/songwriters, duos and acoustic oriented bands.

The performances are video taped before a live audience by a professional crew and the footage is posted on The Vancouver City Limits YouTube channel where all previous performances can be viewed.

Vancouver City Limits also produces its own highly successful Vancouver City Limits Music and Arts Festival, a family oriented event that takes place twice a year with music performed day and night in non-stop fashion rotating between the intimate in-door theatre and out-door stage. Music, art, food, and a beer garden make the Festival a must see. Scheduled for the June 20 & 21st weekend, (Summer Solstice), this year’s festival should prove to be one of the hottest tickets in town.
